Knights start season with 3rd place finish

Your Northwood Knights started the 2013/14 season in Georgetown, Texas at the UMHB Invitational hosted by the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor at Cowan Creek GC.

The Knights consisted of Senior Daniel Stoakes, Junior Drake Genna and 3 Freshmen Austin Hughes, Steven Anderson and Juan Gallegos.

The first day played under near perfect conditions was one of a few ups and downs!
The Knights shot 296 to be in 2nd place, trailing the leaders by 12 shots.
Led by Austin Hughes who opened his collegiate career with a solid 2 under par 70 and backed up by 73 from Gallegos and 74 from Stoakes, Drake Genna played much better than his 79 suggests but the Knights have much work to do going into the final round.

The second round was again played in superb conditions. The Knights came out really flat however and stumbled home with a 303 to fall back into 3rd place.
Daniel Stoakes had a nice tournament to start his Senior year with 74-73 but the second day was littered with mistakes.

Coach Belfield "The first round was much better than the score suggests, Drake played 16 good holes but stumbled heavily on a couple. We really could have been (and should have been) about 7-8 shots closer to the leaders.
The second day was very sloppy, we didn't get anything going and we played distinctly average. We have an exciting and talented group this year, we are deeper than we have been in the past but this tournament should show us all how far we need to come. The talent is there and I am looking forward to seeing it progress and develop over the course of the year".

Led by Daniel Stoakes T7th (74-73), Austin Hughes placed T10th with 70-78,
 Juan Gallegos (T15th 73-77), Drake Genna (T29th 79-75)
Steven Anderson (54th 83-88).

RESULTS!!
