Knights play in DI Houston Baptist Event, Finish 12th

Your Knights ventured to Houston, Texas to play in the Huskie Invitational which is hosted at Woodforest GC.
The Knights were the only non-NAIA team in what is a loaded DI tournament. Consisting of Top 125 teams Houston Baptist, Sam Houston, Louisana-Monroe and Little Rock (among others), this tournament should be one of the toughest fields of the fall.

This weeks team consisted of Senior Daniel Stoakes, Junior Drake Genna, Sophomore Carter Caldwell and Freshmen Austin Hughes and Juan Gallegos.

Woodforest GC is home to PGA Q-school qualifying and home to the Senior PGA final Q-school. It has hosted many state/regional tournaments and is known for its expansive fairways and fast greens.

Round 1 started in warm but wet conditions and the Knights fired an opening round 310. The second round was an improvement with a 301 to lie in 11th place overnight.

Coach Belfield "Well those were 2 rounds I wish we could have back! We simply didn't play well, we holed next to nothing and we hit the ball poorly........typically not a good recipe for low scores! The rest of the field has lapped us and it shows the quality we are playing against. We were fortunate to play with the University of Houston individuals who showed some of the guys the level that they need to be competing at if they are to do anything after school. They were simply at a different level. We have a new opportunity tomorrow to gain some shots back!"

The Knights shot a final round 308 to finish in 12th place.
None of Knights played well although we only had 1 score in the 80's, it was just a whole bunch of average. The Knights have much to improve on before their next tournament in Oklahoma.

Led by Daniel Stoakes T47th (76-74-77), Austin Hughes placed T57th with 79-73-79,
  Drake Genna (T59th 78-75-79) , Juan Gallegos (67th 85-79-75)
Carter Caldwell (77-DNF-77)

RESULTS!!
