KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A fourth-place finish at the DBU Classic April 7–9 allowed Texas Wesleyan to maintain its No. 1 for a fourth-straight week in the NAIA Men’s Golf Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Friday. The Rams were the unanimous selection for the second-straight poll, receiving all 20 first-place votes and 560 points.

Texas Wesleyan, who was competing in an event hosted by NCAA Division II Dallas Baptist (Texas), was the top NAIA team on the leader board with a 54-hole score of 304-295-301—900. Dylan Anthony’s (75-71-74—220) seventh-place finish led the team, while Nathan Anderson (76-73-75—224) finished tied for 13th and Dillon Watkins (75-76-76—227) landed in 24th-place to round out the Ram’s top 25 finishers. Texas Wesleyan’s next event is the 2013 Red River Athletic Conference Championships at the Cypresswood Country Club in Houston, Texas, April 29—30.

The next three of the top five also carried over their exact positions from the March 29 edition. No. 2 Oklahoma City, who received 541 points, beat out nine NCAA Division I squads en route to a third-place finish at the Wallace Jones Invitational at the Calvert Crossing Golf Club in Calhoun, La., April 8—9. As he has done for much of the season, Anthony Marchesani paced the Stars by carding a 72-76-75—223, good for a seventh-place finish. He concluded the event with eight birdies and led the field in par-3 scoring at 2.92 shots per hole.

Third-ranked Cal State San Marcos came in with 519 points despite being idle since finishing runner-up at the Battle at Primm, Nev., March 25—26. The Cougars return to the course on April 29—30 for the Association of Independents Championship in Victoria, Texas.

No. 4 Cumberlands (Ky.) rounds out the quartet with 505 points. A sixth-place (tied) result by Niclas Rigbrandt (74-73—147) led the Patriots to a third-place team finish at the NAIA Classic in Indianapolis, Ind., April 8—9. As a team, Cumberlands finished four strokes off the lead with a 293-300—593.

The only top-five newcomer, No. 5 Johnson & Wales (Fla.) advanced one spot from last edition with 465 points. The Wildcats continued their stellar play this season, overcoming a five-stroke deficit with a second-round 285 to edge Embry-Riddle (Fla.) by two shots en route to their second-straight team title at the Bash at the Beach in Daytona, Fla., April 6—7.

Three teams made significant positive movement within the poll this week, led by No. 19 Faulkner’s (Ala.) four-point jump from No. 23. The Eagles, who are two weeks removed from making their first-ever appearance in the Top 25, won their fourth-straight tournament with a victory at the Natural State Golf Classic in Heber Springs, Ark., April 6. No. 7 Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) (previously No. 10) and No. 8 Grand View (Iowa) (previously No. 11) round out the trio with three-spot improvements.
On the flip side, Mount Mercy’s (Iowa) five-spot slide from No. 19 to No. 24 was the largest fall amongst the Top 25.
