Knights finish 7th in DII event!

Your Northwood Knights played in the DBU Classic hosted by Dallas Baptist University and held at Hackberry Country Club in Irving, Texas.

A prominently DII field which included No.5 Abilene Christian as well as 4 other Top 50 ranked team also consisted of NAIA No.1 Texas Wesleyan & No.19 Lubbock Christian.

The Knights started the first round in breezy conditions with a decent score of 301 to lie in 3rd place behind Oklahoma Christian & host Dallas Baptist.
The Knights followed that round with a somewhat disappointing 304 to end the day in 5th place.

Coach Belfield "Hackberry Creek is a tough course and the conditions, whilst not tough, were tricky enough to cause problems. The first round wasn't too bad but we played poorly throughout the second round with the exception of Derek, who actually played a lot better than his Even Par score suggests. We are still placed decently though and look forward to coming out tomorrow and posting a good score!"

The Knights, facing strong winds (again!), did not play very well but battled enough to come in with 312 to fall two spots to 7th. Led by a solid finish by Derek Trofimczuk, the Knights came above Lubbock Christian, No.5 (DII) Abilene Christian as well as a couple of other solid DII teams.

Coach Belfield "Tough to gauge this one. We/I have have extremely high standards for each other, we have fallen way below that today but managed to post a respectable finish. I thought a couple of my players severely lost their composure today which is highly disappointing.
I was pleased to see Daniel hobble round to a superb back nine, It was also great to see Derek start to round back into form, even though he finished in the Top 10, I actually thought he played better than his score suggests. This is our last tournament before conference and we are still in an enviable position. We control our own destiny and I am looking to forward to competing at conference, and getting ourselves back into form prior to Nationals!"

Led by Derek Trofimczuk T8th (74-72-75), Joss Gosling placed T25th with 75-76-77,
Daniel Stoakes (T45th 77-80-76 ) & Travis Kemp (53rd 75-77-84)
and Drake Genna (T72nd 79-79-86).
