NAIA Men’s Golf Coaches’ Postseason Top 25 Poll
National Champion Oklahoma City receives 38th top billing since 2000

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second-straight season, Oklahoma City finishes the season ranked No. 1 in the NAIA Men’s Golf Coaches’ Postseason Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Friday. The Stars, who boast 38 all-time No. 1 rankings since 2000, received all 17 first-place votes and 467 points to land on top.
Oklahoma City never trailed en route to winning the squad’s ninth national title in the last 13 years last week at Creekside Golf Club. The Stars carded a tournament-low 4-under par, 1,148 (280-288-289-291), to best second-place Texas Wesleyan by 28 strokes. Oklahoma City had four individuals finish amongst the top 10, including Sondre Ronold who took home the O.D. Bounds National Medalist Trophy after winning the individual crown with a 5-under par finish (69-69-74-71—283).
National championship runner-up Texas Wesleyan checks in at No. 2 this week with 452 points. The Rams, who held the top spot in every previous rating this year, were led by Dylan Anthony’s 290 (72-72-70-76) at last week’s national championships.
Cal State San Marcos holds down the No. 3 position for the fourth-straight week with 437 points, while No. 4 Grand View (Iowa) and No. 5 Lee (Tenn.) round out the remainder of the top five with 421 and 390 points, respectively.
In addition to making its first top five appearance since May 10, 2012, Grand View’s four position jump from No. 8 is the largest positive movement within the Top 25 this week. The Vikings finished fourth at the national championships on May 17.
No. 19 St. Thomas (Texas) and No. 24 Milligan (Tenn.) earn a national ranking for the first time this year. In addition, both programs are listed in the national poll for the first time dating back to 2000.
Lubbock Christian (Texas) (No. 25) and Oklahoma Baptist (No. 22) fell out of the poll.
Thirteen conferences/independents/unaffiliated groups are represented in the Top 25. The Southern States Athletic Conference boasts the most representation with four ranked members.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups.
Notes (All information as of 2000): Oklahoma City is making its NAIA record 38th all-time appearance at No. 1 … Following the Stars on the all-time list are former NAIA member Oklahoma Christian (28), Texas Wesleyan (5), Johnson & Wales (Fla.) (2), Simon Fraser (B.C.) (2), Berry (Ga.) (1), British Columbia (1), North Greenville (S.C.) (1) … Oklahoma City and Texas Wesleyan are the only teams to appear at No. 1 in 2013 … Oklahoma City has never been ranked outside of the top five … Thirty-one teams have been ranked this season … No. 24 Milligan (Tenn.) and No. 19 St. Thomas (Texas) are making its first-ever appearance in the national poll.
